The secondary side of the current transformer is connected in series with the current coil of the measuring instrument to form a closed loop. Due to the small impedance, the secondary voltage is very low. However, if the secondary current transformer is open, the current transformer is actually equivalent to a rising transformer. If it is open for the secondary current, the secondary current is lost, the balance of current is lost, and the magnetic flux of the iron core increases sharply, resulting in a great increase in the secondary voltage, which can rise to hundreds of volts or even thousands of thousands of volts, it is not only easy to cause electric shock to people, but also may break down the insulation of secondary lines and electrical components, which is a very dangerous situation.
In addition, the magnetic flux of the iron core is greatly intensified, the iron core will heat up, which may burn the transformer. Moreover, because the secondary current of the transformer is zero, the ammeter and power meter indicate zero, the current relay cannot operate normally, and the monitoring and protection of the primary circuit are lost.
Remind the installer: the current transformer cannot be opened for the second time!!
